Saudi (Najdi) Arabic AI Voice Generator: The Complete Text-to-peech Guide for Najdi Voice Overs

Canva makes it easy to build a reel, an ad or a slide video in minutes. The voice is usually where Arabic projects slow down. You can record yourself, use the text to speech inside Canva, try a voice app, or bring in an Arabic voice made somewhere else, and each route behaves differently once you need a specific dialect, tight timing or more than a short paragraph of script.

This guide walks through every route for a Canva Arabic voiceover, the limits we found when we checked Canva’s own pages in October 2026, and a workflow for importing dialect voices from Munsit text to speech so that your video sounds Emirati, Saudi or formal Arabic on purpose, not by accident.

What Is a Saudi (Najdi) Arabic AI Voice Generator?

A Saudi Arabic AI voice generator is a neural text to speech system trained on recordings of Saudi speakers. You paste a script, choose a voice, and the model predicts the rhythm, stress and intonation a native speaker would use, then renders an audio file you can drop into a video, an app or a phone line.

A Najdi voice generator narrows that further to the dialect of the Najd plateau in central Saudi Arabia: Riyadh, Qassim, Hail and the towns between them. Riyadh is the largest city in the Kingdom, as the 2022 census coverage confirms, and it is where most ministries and many brand headquarters sit. That is why a large share of Saudi advertising, service messaging and customer support ends up in a Najdi register.

If you want the wider picture across Emirati, Egyptian and other dialects, our Arabic AI voice generator guide covers the full landscape. This article stays focused on Saudi, and on Najdi in particular.

Najdi vs Hijazi: Why Saudi Arabic Text to Speech Is Not One Accent

Search for Saudi Arabic TTS and most tools offer one or two voices simply called Saudi. In reality the Kingdom has several dialect groups. The two that matter most for voice overs are Najdi in the centre and Hijazi in the west, which is spoken in Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah by roughly 11 million people.

These are the differences a Saudi listener hears straight away:

  • Everyday words. A Najdi speaker asks wesh for “what” and says abi for “I want”. A Hijazi speaker says eish and abgha. “Now” is al hin in Najdi and dahin in Hijazi.
  • Vowels. Najdi shortens or drops short vowels and allows consonant clusters at the start of words, so it sounds clipped and quick. Hijazi keeps fuller vowels and sounds rounder.
  • The “ts” sound. In Najdi, the letter kaf in feminine endings often turns into a “ts” sound, so “with you”, said to a woman, sounds like ʕəndəts. Hijazi keeps the plain k.

There is a detail inside Najdi itself that most voice guides miss. A study of 72 speakers in Qassim found the “ts” sound is still standard in word endings, but it is fading inside words among younger, educated speakers, who are moving toward the Riyadh city pronunciation. In practice, a modern Riyadh voice and a traditional Qassim voice are not the same thing. If your audience is young and urban, a lighter city Najdi voice usually fits better than a heavy rural one.

The Locale Code Trap in Saudi Arabic Text to Speech

Large cloud TTS catalogues file their Arabic voices under co

A Saudi locale label can sit on an MSA, Najdi or Hijazi voice. Only listening tells you which

untry locale codes. The Saudi code tells you which market a voice was packaged for. It does not tell you whether that voice speaks Najdi, Hijazi or Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

Some big providers list a single pair of voices under the Saudi locale without naming any dialect. At least one major cloud provider has no Saudi locale at all and files its Gulf voices under the UAE code instead. Neither choice is wrong, but neither guarantees the Najdi sound your script needs.

Before you commit to any Saudi Arabic text to speech voice, run three quick checks:

  1. Does the vendor name the dialect, such as Najdi or Hijazi, on the voice itself?
  2. Do the public samples contain dialect words such as wesh and abi, or only formal sentences?
  3. Can you generate your own script before paying, so you hear your brand name and your prices?

How to Choose the Best Saudi Arabic Text to Speech Voice

Once you know a voice is genuinely Najdi, the next job is to check whether it will hold up in production. This is the checklist we use when reviewing Saudi TTS voices:

What to CheckHow to Test ItWhy It Matters
Named DialectVoice labelled Najdi or Hijazi, not only Saudi.Stops you paying for a formal MSA voice.
Native JudgementAsk for blind tests with native Saudi raters and the sample size.Small listener panels cannot prove a difference.
Code SwitchingA line mixing Arabic with an English brand or product name.Saudi scripts often carry English terms.
Numbers and DatesPrices in riyals, phone numbers, Hijri dates.A common place for voices to stumble.
Pauses and SpeedPause tags and a speed range you can control.Ads and reels need tight timing.
Consent for CloningA documented consent step before any clone.Required by Saudi data rules and SDAIA guidance.
Data HandlingWhere audio is processed and how long it is kept.Voice can be sensitive personal data.
Commercial RightsLicence terms for paid ads and client work.Avoids takedowns and disputes later.

The native judgement row deserves more detail, because most vendors skip it. Munsit published a blind Arabic TTS listening benchmark in 2026 in which 76 native Saudi raters scored recordings across 82 Saudi sessions. Munsit voices were rated highest in 48.1% of Saudi sessions, compared with 22.1% for professional human recordings, and the gap was statistically significant. The same test found its Emirati panel too small to confirm a gap, and it says so openly.

How to Write a Najdi Script for Text to Speech

The biggest quality lever in Najdi text to speech is the script, not the engine. A TTS model reads what you give it. Feed a Najdi voice a formal Arabic script and it will sound like a newsreader, however good the voice is. These six habits make the biggest difference:

  1. Write the words a Najdi speaker would say. Use وش, أبي, الحين and زين where they fit naturally, instead of the formal ماذا, أريد and الآن.
  2. Keep sentences short. Najdi speech is quick and clipped. Two short lines render more naturally than one long formal sentence.
  3. Test English brand names both ways. Try the name in Latin letters and again spelled in Arabic the way Saudis say it, then keep whichever sounds right.
  4. Write key numbers as words. Prices, phone numbers and dates are where voices most often trip, so spell out the ones that must be read a certain way.
  5. Do not add full vowel marks to dialect text by default. Automatic diacritization works best on formal Arabic, and Munsit’s own Tashkīl documentation notes that dialect text may need extra review. Add vowel marks only to a word the voice gets wrong.
  6. Mark your pauses. In Munsit, a pause tag such as <break time="1s"/> must include a unit (s or ms). A tag without a unit is silently ignored, each pause is capped at 3 seconds, and pauses count toward the audio length, as the synthesize documentation explains.

Here is how the same message reads in formal Arabic and in a Najdi script written for text to speech:

Where Najdi AI Voice Overs Work Best

Saudi audiences are online almost universally. Internet penetration reached 99% by the end of 2025, YouTube ads reached 79.2% of the population and Snapchat ads reached 72.9%, according to DataReportal’s Digital 2026 report for Saudi Arabia. The audience is also young: 63% of Saudi nationals are under 30, based on census results reported by AGBI. That is a mobile first audience that expects to hear local voices.

Social video and ads

Snapchat stories, TikTok clips, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels are where a Najdi voice over pays off fastest. A local voice keeps the first two seconds from sounding like a translated ad.

Apps, phone lines and voice agents

Onboarding prompts, delivery updates, booking reminders and phone menus sound friendlier in Najdi. For live voice agents, Munsit documents plugins and guides for LiveKit, Pipecat, Vapi and Ultravox, so a Najdi voice can sit inside an existing agent stack.

Training and explainer content

Internal training, product walkthroughs and online courses for Saudi teams benefit from a consistent narrator who sounds local without the cost of booking studio time for every update.

When formal Arabic is the better choice

Not every Saudi message should be Najdi. Official notices, legal wording and religious content usually suit an MSA voice. A sensible pattern is MSA for formal statements and Najdi for friendly reminders and marketing.

How to Create a Najdi Voice Over with Munsit Text to Speech

Here is the process in the browser, followed by details for developers that we checked against Munsit’s public documentation in October 2026.

In the browser

  1. Create a free account. The pricing page lists a free plan with a one time grant of 10,000 credits and no card required.
  2. Open the Munsit text to speech studio and preview voices tagged Najdi.
  3. Paste your Najdi script, set the speed anywhere from 0.7x to 1.2x, and generate.
  4. Listen with a native Najdi speaker, fix any word that sounds off, then download the WAV file.

Creators who want dubbing, subtitles and voice overs in one place can start from the Munsit page for creators.

What we found in the Munsit voice library

The featured voice list in the Munsit voices documentation currently leans heavily toward Najdi. Fahad, Maha, Faisal, Turki, Reem, Mishari, Hala and Mishal are tagged Najdi, while Lama is the one featured Hijazi voice. If your project needs Hijazi, check the full voice list in your account before you plan a large batch.

Notes for developers

  • Filter by najdi, not saudi. The voices endpoint accepts a dialect filter. Filtering by saudi also returns najdi, hijazi and southern_saudi voices, so use najdi when you need a Riyadh sound specifically.
  • The accent lives in the voice. The synthesis dialect hint accepts auto, emirati and fusha only. There is no najdi value, so pick a Najdi voice, leave the hint on auto and write the script in Najdi.
  • Core settings. Stability (0 to 1) is required, speed runs from 0.7 to 1.2, and a 48 kHz sample rate is recommended for real time calls. Output is a WAV file, or PCM16 chunks when streaming is on.
  • Cloning in Najdi. The voice cloning call takes an optional dialects field, for example najdi, hijazi, and the docs recommend at least a minute of clean audio.

If you plan to clone your own voice or a brand voice in Najdi, read our guide to how brands build custom Arabic voices before recording.

Free and Paid Saudi Arabic Text to Speech Options

People searching for a free Saudi text to speech tool usually meet four types of options. Each has a place:

OptionCostNajdi qualityBest for
Open source Saudi TTS modelsFree to download; you pay for hostingVaries; often trained on few speakersResearch and prototypes
Large cloud TTS platformsPay as you goFew Saudi voices, often formal in styleTeams already on that cloud
Developer inference platformsUsage basedSome Saudi models in preview, with short input limitsQuick experiments
Arabic specialist platformsFree credits, then plansNamed Najdi and Hijazi voicesProduction voice overs and agents

Two practical warnings on free tools. First, check the licence before you use the audio in a paid ad, because many open models restrict commercial use. Second, a preview model with a cap of a couple of hundred characters per request is fine for testing but awkward for a 60 second script.

AI voice work in Saudi Arabia now sits inside a clearer set of rules. The main points for creators and businesses:

  • Personal data law. Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law became fully enforceable on 14 September 2024. The law lists biometric data as sensitive data. A voice recording used to clone or identify a person can fall into that category, so collect written consent and keep it on file.
  • Deepfake guidance. SDAIA’s deepfake guidelines, reported by Arab News in May 2026, say creators should get explicit consent before using anyone’s likeness, keep auditable consent records and watermark synthetic content. Coverage does not make clear how binding the guidelines are, so treat them as the expected standard.
  • Platform labels. YouTube asks creators to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content, for example a real person appearing to say something they did not. Cloning your own voice for voice overs or dubs is treated as a minor use that does not need a label.
  • Never clone without permission. Do not clone a public figure, an official or a colleague without documented consent, even for a joke or an internal video.
  • Ask where audio goes. Munsit’s documentation describes self hosting and a mode with zero audio retention, and lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 as in progress. Ask any vendor the same questions about processing location and retention.

Disclaimers

  • This article is for general information only and is not legal advice. Laws and guidelines on personal data, AI and synthetic media in Saudi Arabia change often. Speak to a qualified lawyer before running a campaign that uses cloned or synthetic voices.
  • Product details for Munsit, including voices, parameters, credits and plans, come from public documentation and pages reviewed in October 2026 and may change without notice.
  • The benchmark figures quoted here come from a test run by the vendor. It has not been independently peer reviewed, and its Saudi results were not split by dialect.
  • Dialect examples are simplified for clarity. Pronunciation and vocabulary vary between towns, generations and individual speakers within Najd and the Hijaz.
  • Statistics are taken from the third party sources linked in the text and reflect the dates those sources state.
  • Product and platform names mentioned belong to their respective owners. Mentioning them does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

Frequently asked questions

Is Najdi the same as Saudi Arabic?

No. Najdi is one of several Saudi dialects. It is spoken in central Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, Qassim and Hail. Hijazi in the west and the southern dialects sound noticeably different.

Can an AI voice generator speak with a real Najdi accent?

Yes, if the voice was trained on Najdi speakers and the script is written in Najdi. A Najdi voice reading a formal Arabic script will still sound formal.

Is Najdi the same as Khaleeji or Gulf Arabic?

Najdi shares some features with Gulf dialects, but it is not the same. Emirati or Kuwaiti voices will sound out of place to a Riyadh listener, so choose a voice tagged Najdi.

Is there a free Saudi Arabic text to speech tool?

Open source Saudi models are free to download, and several platforms offer free credits. Munsit’s free plan includes a one time grant of 10,000 credits with no card required. Check commercial rights before publishing ads.

Can I clone my own voice in Najdi?

Yes. Record at least a minute of clean speech, give consent, and set the dialect to Najdi where the tool allows it. Keep a record of your consent.

Do I need to label AI voice overs in Saudi Arabia?

SDAIA guidance points toward consent and watermarking for synthetic content, and platforms such as YouTube require labels for realistic synthetic media. A plain voice over in your own or a stock voice is usually low risk, but disclose whenever a real person’s voice is imitated.
